The Bronco Connection
You will often find Mrs. Gateman proudly wearing her Denver Broncos gear—just as she is at this AGM. For her, this is more than team loyalty; it is a family connection. Mrs. Gateman's cousin, Quinn Meinerz (#77, Right Guard), plays for the Denver Broncos, where he protects quarterback Bo Nix. Quinn is one of only six players from a Division III school to reach the NFL—an extraordinary accomplishment.

Jodie remembers watching Quinn pursue his goal with unwavering focus. Every choice he made—what he ate, what he read, how he trained—was guided by a single question: How will this move me closer to the NFL? Such discipline is rare in adults, let alone in someone just 21 years old. She speaks of his determination with deep pride, knowing he is now living the dream he worked tirelessly to achieve.

Each year, Jodie and her husband, often joined by extended family, travel to Denver to watch him play. Quinn is well-loved by Denver fans and respected by teammates. He is known for lifting others—literally and figuratively—often being the first to help them up and always contributing as a true playmaker.

Despite not playing during the COVID-19 year, Quinn earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl and immediately stood out among Division I athletes. His performance turned heads and showcased his ability to compete at the highest level. While his natural size—6'3", 320 pounds, with an 82-inch wingspan—gives him the ideal frame for an offensive lineman, it is his relentless work ethic that has earned him a starting position since his rookie season, multiple All-Pro recognitions, and a place among the highest-paid guards in the league.

Jodie also has a special connection to another Broncos player: Alex Singleton, a former Calgary Stampeders linebacker now with Denver. She met Alex during his time in Calgary, and she was thrilled to see him achieve his NFL goal—first with the Eagles, and then joining the Broncos during Quinn's first season.

If you want to see her eyes light up, ask her about the "Singleton Section" story, the "my knee kind of hurts" moment, the CornHole Mania experience in Vegas, or the Karl Mecklenburg encounter.
Her genuine enthusiasm for the Broncos is unmistakable—especially when she's wearing her blue-and-orange #77 jersey with pride.
Broncos - 2021 NFL Draft
"I almost missed it! The Saints were supposed to pick next. They didn't need a guard. I had scoured the line-up, the order, the teams, who needed what, and we were approaching the end of the second day. Although I was ticking off a bucket list item - watch an NFL draft from start to finish - I was getting discouraged. Why weren't they picking him? I decided to get some mojo going by putting on the WhiteWater colours and almost missed it. I just arrived back in the room to hear, "The New Orlean Saints have traded to the Denver Broncos the 98th pick!"
